Sydney Pollack's 1995 remake of "Sabrina," starring Harrison Ford and Julia Ormond may have bombed at the box office, but its elegant, piano-centric musical score by John Williams is a timeless classic. Anchored by a wistful and dreamlike theme, it's a nostalgic gem which hearkens back to the Golden Age of cinema. Learning to play this piece has been a personal goal of mine for the past 20 years. There were times when I thought I would never be able to play it smoothly and with expression, but my frustrations finally gave way to progress when I bought my grand piano and started practicing on a professional instrument. Now those arpeggios are much easier to play, but this is still one of the most challenging pieces in my repertoire.
